Drivers are being warned of diversions and closures on the A19 in Sunderland at the weekend.
The exit from the A19 to the A690 Durham Road junction in East Herrington will be closed between 6am and 7pm on both Saturday and Sunday for ongoing roadworks.
Traffic will be diverted via Chester Road during these times.
The closure is to make way for work that will add extra lanes, new signalling, and improvements to the junction's drainage, fencing and kerbing.
Deputy Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Paul Stewart said: "As a council, we are committed to continually upgrading and improving our highways network for residents and businesses.
"This work is being carried out over the weekend to minimise disruption and I would like to thank all drivers for their patience as we complete this next stage of another important upgrade to our city's infrastructure."
