Temperatures across Glasgow have dipped this week and drivers are being warned to take extra care when getting behind the wheel.
The Met Office originally issued a yellow warning for Glasgow warning locals to prepare for snow, but as of this morning (March 9) this has now been lifted. Despite no heavy snow set to fall in Glasgow, sleet is still on the way as temperatures battle to stay above freezing.
And as chilly conditions take hold ice and frost will make things a little more difficult on the roads. And because of this, drivers have been warned to be cautious to avoid a hefty fine and points on their licence.

Experts from Comparethemarket have said motorists must "resist the temptation" to drive away with a partially frozen or steamed up screen as "reduced visibility means you’re much more likely to have an accident – and be held liable for it" adding that you could get a hefty fine for breaking Rule 229 of the Highway Code.
They state that if you break it, you could be fined £2,500 as well as three penalty points.
They explain: "Whether you’re hoping for a white Christmas or not, you need to be prepared for all weather conditions.
"If it’s icy or snowy, you’ll need to make sure all your windows and mirrors are clear and demisted, your lights are clean, and that your number plates are clearly visible and legible before you set off. It’s also important to remove any snow from the top of your car, as there is a risk this could fall off into the road of other drivers, or block the view from the front or back windscreen..
"Forgetting to clear the frost from your window could land you a £2,500 fine and three penalty points according to rule 229 of the Highway Code so be sure to follow this rule!"
Julie Daniels from the car insurance team at Comparethemarket has now reminded drivers that they should prepare and take care - even if there is no weather warning in place.
She said: "On icy and snowy days, it’s paramount that drivers properly clear and demist all windows of their car, make sure lights are clean, and that number plates are clearly visible and legible before setting off.
"It’s also important to remove any snow from the top of the car, as this could fall off into the path of other road users or block the view from the front or back windscreen.
Forgetting to do so could not only limit the ability to drive safely but could also land drivers with a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points, so it’s vital that these rules are followed.”
