Drivers have been warned being 'nice' to fellow motorists could see them fined £1,000.
Motorists who flash their lights at another road user to alert them of upcoming speed cameras or mobile police vans could see them landed with a hefty fine - and three points on their licence.
In addition, drivers can also be punished for "beeping your horn when going around tight bends" and for "using your hazard lights to say thank you to someone behind you".
BirminghamLive reported the fine for beeping your horn around tight bends is £1,000 (but with no points added to your licence), new research by comparethemarket.com shows.

But if you use your hazards to thank a driver behind you, drivers face an unlimited fine and up to nine points on their licence.
The comparison website, comparethemarket.com, found that a shocking 37% of motorists were unaware of this.
A spokesperson for the website advised drivers to always be a well-mannered motorist and remain calm.
They said: “You share the road with countless other users. Leaving adequate space between yourself and others is essential when driving to help keep everyone safe and moving along.
“Exercising patience when driving is often something that people struggle with, especially if they’re in a rush and running late.
"However, everyone on the road has somewhere to be, so getting frustrated when stuck in traffic doesn't help anyone.”
