Police are urging motorists not to give money to a beggar who has been spotted at a busy Leeds road junction.
The East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team have said that a male who is not homeless has been frequently attending and begging at the Roundhay Road and Easterly Road junction in Harehills.
West Yorkshire Police said the man has suitable living accommodation and support, and in efforts to stop and minimise his attendance, the force is asking people not to give him money and prevent the ongoing issue.
They said: "The East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team are aware of a male who is frequently attending and begging at the Roundhay Road and Easterly Road junction in Leeds when motorists are waiting at the traffic lights.
"We would like to advise members of the public that the individual is not homeless, has suitable living accommodation and support.
"In order to prevent the on-going issues we would like to kindly ask that motorists do not give the individual money, which may assist in reducing his attendance at the location.
“Investigation are on-going in relation to previously reported occurrences and Officers will continue to provide a visible presence in the area.
"Leeds Anti-Social Behaviour Team are also aware and will be taking any appropriate and necessary action to address the repeat reports of begging at the location."
