Drivers take a chance while eating out in Manchester...it ended up being a very expensive meal

Two drivers who parked their cars on zig zag lines while dining out in Manchester city centre were hit with hefty fines.

It proved to be an expensive night out for each driver after ditching a white Audi and a silver Mercedes near to a pedestrian crossing on Liverpool Street.

The pair were hit with a £100 fine each and three points apiece on their driving licenses after being caught by police on the beat.

Parking on white zig zag lines near to a pedestrian crossing is prohibited by law.

GMP Traffic said on Twitter: "Expensive dinner for these two drivers who left their vehicles for an hour while they went to dine - 3 points and £100 fine (minimum).

"Pedestrians are endangered by vehicles parked on Zig Zag lines at Zebra Crossings."
