Drivers slammed online after pictures emerge of cars parked in disabled bays in Dublin city centre

Car drivers have been slammed online after pictures were uploaded to social media showing cars parked in disabled bays in the city centre.

The pictures were uploaded to Twitter by An Garda Siochana's official account, where they were met with heavy criticism of the drivers.

It comes as Operation Enable looks to clamp down on drivers illegally parking in these zones.

The motorists were met with €150 fixed charge fines issued on Saturday night when they returned to their vehicles.

One Twitter user expressed his rage at the lack of empathy from non-disabled drivers using the spaces to park.

He said: "Able bodied drivers who knowingly park in Disabled Bays without a permit or a fraudulent one, have no idea of the hurt and stress they cause.

"These menaces should be banned from driving for life, as they do not cherish their own good health or of those who need assistance."

Another said that those responsible for the parking deserved more than a fine: "Disabled bays, they deserve it and more."
