Drivers parking on street warned over 'suspicious behaviour' in area

People parking on a residential street are being warned following reports of "suspicious behaviour" in the area.

In the early hours of Monday, July 19, police received reports of a group of men, two on a scooter and others on foot, in the area of Brookland Lane in St Helens.

In a statement released today, a Merseyside Police spokesperson said it is believed that the men were looking into parked vehicles in the area.

The force said the men were "disturbed" and later made off and that enquiries are now ongoing.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We are investigating following suspicious behaviour in St Helens in the early hours of Monday morning, 19 July.

"At around 12.40am, reports were received of males, two on a scooter and others on foot, in the area of Brookland Lane. It is believed that they were looking into parked vehicles.

"They were disturbed and made off. Enquiries are ongoing."
