Drivers in lucky escape from dramatic crash that sparked traffic chaos

Two cars were badly damaged after a collision which caused long tailbacks on a busy route this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, at the junction of Netherton Way and Dunnings Bridge Road, shortly after 3pm.

Two fire engines, two ambulances and a fast response vehicle attended the crash, which took place near the Netherton pub.

The collision involved a blue Ford Mondeo and a silver Skoda Citigo, both of which were left badly damaged as a result.

The whole of the front of the Skoda was caved in, while the damage to the off-side of the Mondeo was also significant.

Fortunately, only the driver of the Mondeo was taken to hospital to be checked over as a precaution.

It is believed the driver did not suffer any serious injuries.

The incident led to traffic delays on Dunnings Bridge Road while emergency services dealt with the incident and cleared the carriageway of debris.

Both vehicles were recovered from the scene.
