Drivers heading from East Kilbride to Glasgow are facing major rush hour delays after a forklift fell off an HGV closing the M74 northbound.
The major route into the city is closed between Maryville (Junction 4) and Daldowie (Junction 3a).
Traffic Scotland are reporting a diversion is in place with traffic coming off at J4 Maryville.
The accident happened shortly after 1pm with two lanes initially blocked and drivers using the hard shoulder to get by.
Work is ongoing to clear the carriageway.
