Drivers have 'no way through' as fallen tree blocks Edinburgh road in high winds

A tree has fallen down in high winds and is obstructing a road in the Balerno area this monrning.

The tree is blocking Long Dalmahoy Road in both directions at the junction with Ravelrig Road, according to motorists.

It is understood that traffic is coping well, however commuters will have to take a diversion.

Ronnnie Young wrote on Twitter: "Tree down blocking the junction @ Ravelrig Road and Long Dalmahoy Road no way through and nowhere to turn."

Meanwhile, Jacqui McColl said: "Fallen tree blocking Long Dalmahoy Road at junction with Ravelrig Road, no access towards Herriot Watt."

There were weather warnings and flood alerts in place on Monday as Storm Brendan hit Edinburgh and the Lothians.

STV weather presenter Sean Batty said that it was one of the few times a storm can accurately be called  a "weather bomb."

The weather is set to take a wet turn once again today, with rain forecast from around 1pm.
