Drivers facing court after police clock them travelling over 60mph on A8 near Edinburgh Airport

Two drivers are facing court after police clocked them travelling over the speed limit on the A8 in Edinburgh.

Police Scotland's motorcycle unit detected the drivers on Glasgow Road, near Edinburgh Airport, yesterday (May 23) shortly before 12pm going 68mph and 67mph in a 40pmh zone.

Road Policing Scotland said: "The National Motorcycle Unit were back at the A8 near Edinburgh Airport this morning to continue our efforts enforcing the 40mph limit.

"Sadly still plenty individuals choosing to ignore it. Two drivers reported to the court for driving at 68mph and 67mph."

If you are caught speeding by police they can either give you a verbal warning, send you a fixed penalty notice or order you to go to court.

The minimal penalty is a £100 fine and three penalty points added to your license.
