Drivers faced rush-hour delays after multiple incidents on A19 near Moor Farm roundabout

Three separate incidents, including two crashes, caused rush-hour delays for drivers along a busy route.

They took place on the A19 , near the Moor Farm roundabout, in Cramlington on Friday morning.

The first was a two-vehicle collision shortly before 8am, between a Vauxhall Astra and Volvo. Those involved are believed to have suffered minor injuries.

The second incident, at around 8.35am, was a collision between a light goods vehicle and a Mini on Broad Law, just off the A19. No injuries were reported from this crash.

In addition, there was a broken down lorry on the A189 near the junction.

All three incidents resulted in traffic congestion in the area.

However, Northumbria Police said the roads were fully open and traffic was flowing freely by around 9am.

The North East Ambulance Service also sent crews to the scene after the first collision.

A spokesman added: "We were called to reports of a car on its side on the A19 near the Moor Farm roundabout. We sent a double crew ambulance and a HART ambulance."
