Drivers face delays on EK Expressway after car hits lamp post

Drivers face long tail backs on the East Kilbride Expressway after a car struck a lamp post.

Queues have been reported heading from East Kilbride towards Hamilton.

But there are no reports of any injuries police say.

One driver told Lanarkshire Live : "The roads are already busy with the last minute Christmas rush and this has just made it worse. It's horrendous. I just hope everyone is OK."

A police spokeswoman confirmed the incident happened around 12.55pm today.

She told us : "We received a report of a one vehicle road crash on the A725.

"The vehicle left the road and struck a lamp post. We have no reports of any injuries."

And drivers were also faced delays yesterday afternoon after a vehicle hit a barrier on the slip road onto the East Kilbride Expressway from Kingsagte, although no one was injured.

The accident was cleared but traffic was busier than normal.
