Drivers escape injury after two cars crash at busy junction in Jesmond

The drivers of two cars that crashed at a busy junction in Jesmond managed to escape without injury.

Officers from Northumbria Police were called to the collision which happened at the junction of Osbourne Road and Jesmond Road at just after 7pm on Wednesday.

Pictures of the collision show severe damage to the front of the vehicles and to the traffic light railings but police confirmed that there were no injuries reported.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "There was a two-vehicle collision at that location.

"There were no reported injuries and everybody seems to be safe. The ambulance was called but it wasn't required.

"There was damage to the traffic light and the cause of the collision is being investigated.

"The council was called due to the liquid on the road from the cars."
