Drivers carjacked at gunpoint in Bronzeville

Police are alerting drivers in Bronzeville of three recent armed carjackings that happened last Thursday in the South Side neighborhood.

In each of the carjackings, two or three males showed a handgun to a lone driver before demanding the vehicle and driving off, according to Chicago police. The suspects were between 15 and 22 years old.

The carjackings happened:

  • shortly after midnight Nov. 12 in the 4300 block of South Vincennes Avenue;
  • about 3:40 a.m. Nov. 12 in the 4200 block of South King Drive; and
  • about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in the 700 block of East 44th Street.

Police asked anyone with tips to call Area One detectives at 312-747-8380.
