Drivers can't believe what speed camera sign 'really shows'

Drivers have shared their shock after realising what the speed camera road sign "really shows".

The speed camera sign is one of the most instantly recognisable sights on UK roads. But it seems many motorists do not know what the symbol on the signs actually depicts.

Have you ever assumed the picture is that of a side-profile camera? Well, it turns out it shows something completely different, The Mirror reports.

Twitter user @FeyeraBender set the record straight. They wrote: "For years I thought the UK speed camera sign depicted a Victorian bellows camera pointing to the right, but it's just a boring CCTV camera pointing towards the viewer."

They added: "I accept that it's not CCTV cos that's literally different technology, but w/e the stuff on the right is definitely an arm attachment and not old-timey bellows!" Once the tweets had been sent, many drivers were sent into a frenzy as they had no idea - with one even remarking their life had been a "lie".

"I'm distressed and discomforted," another wrote. "What is even reality?" asked another.

Someone else quipped: "You sicken me." Many commented with mind-blown emojis and shocked faces at the revelation.

"FFS man why did you have to do this?" a Twitter user fumed. Other people said they were going to ignore the tweet - and keep believing the Victorian camera theory.
