Drivers are warned of road closures that will affect Raith from next week

Lanarkshire motorists are being warned of overnight road closures at Raith starting on Monday.

The A725 northbound will be closed overnight between Raith Junction  and Bellziehill Junction, including Raith underpass, from 8pm to 6am each night for five nights, starting on Monday, September 14.

These closures have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic and are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential surfacing works are undertaken. The road will re-open at 6am each morning.

As a result, the following roads and slips roads will also be closed overnight:

■ A725 northbound on slip road from Raith roundabout

■ A725 northbound on slip road to Orbiston Junction

Signed diversions will be in operation as follows:

■ Motorway traffic will be diverted via the northbound M74 Junction 4, Maryville, to join the M73 northbound to Junction 2, Baillieston, and continue to on the A8 (M) to Swinton roundabout, the A8 (M) eastbound to Bargeddie roundabout to join the A8 eastbound to Shawhead Junction.

 ■ Non-motorway traffic will follow the B7071 via Bothwell and Uddingston to the A721 Junction / New Edinburgh Road and return to Bellziehill Junction.

These works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, North Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Council.

Road bosses say all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
