Driver writes off £250,000 Ferrari after losing control and crashing into another car

The owner of a £250,000 Ferrari wrote off his supercar when he lost control and smashed into another car while travelling on a 40mph road.

The white and black model 458, which has a top speed of 199mph, crashed on the Hams Way road on the A440 near Worcester at 3.30pm on Sunday.

Drivers could only watch in horror as the luxury vehicle roared across two lanes before colliding with another car and coming to rest on a grass verge on the A440, near Worcester.

Police, ambulance and fire crews rushed to the scene of the crash and transported two people to hospital.

A woman who was walking on a footbridge at the time of the crash told of how she saw the Ferrari heading from the Powick direction swerving across the carriageway.

"I heard the engine roar and my husband estimated it was going at least 70mph,” she said.

"The driver narrowly missed one car but the second car, a white hatchback, couldn't avoid him and they collided.

"They both ended up on the grass verge.

"People stopped and got out of their car to check the drivers were both OK.”

The witness said the driver of the Ferrari appeared stuck for a while, before he was helped into an ambulance.

"It was a scary one - I just hope everyone was alright and not seriously hurt,” she said.

The road was closed for nearly an hour while the debris was cleared from the carriageway.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called upon shortly before 3.30pm on Sunday, to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on the A440 in Worcester.

"We sent one ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car to the scene,” they said.

"On arrival, crews found two patients at the scene.

"Both were treated for injuries not believed to be serious and conveyed to hospital for further treatment."
