Driver with outstanding arrest warrant among four taken in after gardai set up mammoth checkpoint on M50

A man with an arrest warrant was among four taken in by gardai after a mammoth checkpoint was set up in Dublin on Sunday.

Over 200 drivers were tested for alcohol while 20 were tested for drugs on the M50 near Cherrywood in South Dublin.

Three people were taken in for alcohol while one tested positive for cocaine and cannabis.

One of the four was also driving while disqualified.

Gardai said: "Motorway Mandatory Intoxicant Testing checkpoint, M50 at Cherrywood this morning. 231 drivers tested for alcohol, 20 for drugs.

"Four arrests in total. 3 for positive alcohol tests and 1 for drugs, including a disqualified driver re outstanding arrest warrant."
