Driver with frost-covered windscreen smashes into rear of lorry on Scots road

A driver smashed into the rear of a lorry on a Scots road this morning after 'failing to clear their windscreen'.

Police were called to the crash at Houston Industrial Estate on Firth Road, Livingston, West Lothian, at 6.05am today. On arrival, it emerged the driver of the Vauxhall Insignia had allegedly been driving the motor with an icy screen.

Images from the incident show the bonnet the car crumpled into the back of the HGV lorry with its windows covered in ice.

The 53-year-old man was reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

A Tweet from Road Policing Scotland reads: "Tis the season of frosted windscreens and it is vital to be able to see the road ahead when driving! Livingston Road Policing attended a two vehicle collision this morning after a driver failed to clear their windscreen before driving.

"Thankfully no injuries. Driver reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 6.05 am on Wednesday, November 16, police were called to a road crash involving a Vauxhall lnsignia car and a parked vehicle in Houston Industrial Estate, Firth Road, Livingston. No one was injured as a result of the crash.

"A 53-year-old man is the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences following the incident."
