A driver who led police on a high speed chase was caught out when he skidded on ice and smashed into a brick wall.
Police seized a machete from the Peugeot 207, according to a GMP Traffic tweet on Saturday morning.
Officers first spotted the driver near Market Street in Farnworth.
They followed the car as he failed to stop for officers, the tweet said.
One man has been detained.
The full tweet, posted at 2am, said: "GMP Traffic spotted this Peugeot 207 off Market Street in Farnworth.
"It would then fail to stop and was pursued through Farnworth where the driver didn't spot the large section of ice!
"One detained. Large machete located in car too. Car seized and male en route to custody."
