Driver who falsely registered car under name 'Freddie Flintoff' leads police on chase

A driver who falsely registered a car under the name 'Freddie Flintoff' led police on a high-speed chase through north Manchester.

When police seized the car they found more than ten empty fuel drums and a syphoning kit.

Officers joked that the famous cricketer would be unlikely to get himself into such a 'sticky wicket'.

Police from the transport unit first tried to stop the driver of the Citroen Picasso on Tuesday.

It led to a 'short pursuit' around Monsall and Collyhurst, before the car was abandoned, officers said on Facebook.

In the post on the GMP Manchester North Facebook page, PC Marc said: "Turned out it was on false plates with a fictitious keeper named Freddie Flintoff!!

"Don't think Freddie would be getting himself into a sticky wicket with 10+ empty fuel drums in the back and a syphoning kit...Howzat!!"

The vehicle has now been seized and police are investigating, the post said.
