Driver walks away from mangled lorry cab with a "minor bump to the head"

This frightening picture shows the mangled driver's cab of a huge lorry completely ripped open during a crash on the A1 near Pontefract.

Amazingly its driver walked away from the collision with another lorry suffering just a 'minor bump to the head'.

The chilling image shows the driver's seat hanging out of the cab while the bodywork and windscreen are completely destroyed.

Others motorists were delayed by abuot 30 minutes as traffic officers worked to clear up spillage during the accident on Sunday (September 1) at about 5.30pm.

West Yorkshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted (SIC): "A1, South after Darlington. Remarkably this driver only recieved a minor bump to the head. Slight delays whilst debris is being cleared."
