Driver tries to throw £25K worth of cocaine out his van - but had forgotten to wind the window down first

A driver tried to throw £25k worth of cocaine out of his van after being caught by police - but failed as the window was closed.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police stopped the driver on the M5 and when they got to the cab they discovered the inside was covered in white powder.

Sharing the news on Twitter, the South Devon Crime and Proactive Policing Team said that the driver had tried to throw his illegal haul out the window.

But his day went from bad to worse as the bag hit the closed window and split, covering the inside of his van with "approximately £25,000 of cocaine".

The tweet reads: "This van was stopped on the M5 on its way into Devon. The white powder is approx £25000 worth of cocaine which was scattered all over the cab after its owner tried to throw it out of the window (which was closed!).

"Great Team effort with Firearms, Traffic and Scenes of Crime"
