Driver tries to outrun police in £120,000 sports car - only to run out of fuel

A driver who tried to flee from police in a £120,000 sports car was caught after the high speed motor ran out of fuel.

Armed police and the roads policing unit were involved in the pursuit of an Audi R8 last night, on roads through Cheshire and North Wales.

However the chase came to an abrupt end for the unlucky driver whose car, which can reach 0-60mph in just three seconds, ran out of petrol.

In a post on their Twitter the Cheshire and North Wales Alliance Armed Unit said: "If you’re going to make off from the police make sure you have enough fuel in your tank to do it.

"Good teamwork again from armed response vehicles and roads policing unit to lock up the driver."

Police told the Daily Post one person was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving while disqualified.
