Driver tries to escape police but leaves bag of drugs behind

A driver was arrested after attempting to flee from police.

Police were patrolling the Wargrave Road area of Newton-le-Willows on June 30 when they spotted a BMW being driven erratically. As the driver attempted to speed off, officers were in pursuit.

In an attempt to evade police, the driver, who was allegedly disqualified, ditched the car and threw the keys into a nearby gutter. Police located the keys and after searching the vehicle, found a large bag of suspected amphetamine left behind by the driver.

In a statement police said: "today team 1 Newton Le Willows officers spotted a vehicle speeding off attempting to evade them in the Wargrave Road area. So, the officers with the quick reactions and spectacular knowledge of the area where quick to catch the careless driver, who unfortunately was disqualified.

"Sadly, for the driver who had hidden her vehicle key in a nearby gutter had also forgotten that she had left behind her bag of Amphetamine...shame..... I suppose you could say she took her speedy driving literally."
