Driver taken to hospital after vehicle being chased by police crashes into van

A driver has been taken to hospital after a vehicle being chased by police crashed into a van in Tameside.

Police attempted to stop the driver of a car who had been speeding on Mossley Road in Dukinfield on Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the car engaged in a short pursuit with police which resulted in the car colliding with a van on Clarence Street shortly after 1.15pm.

Two ambulances were sent to the scene where two people were treated.

One patient was taken to Tameside Hospital.

It is not clear which vehicle they had been travelling in, or the extent of their injuries.

No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 1.15pm on Tuesday 14 April 2020 police engaged in a short pursuit after a vehicle that was being driven in excess of the speed limit on Mossley Road in Dukinfield.

"A short time later the car collided with a van on Clarence Street in Dukinfield.

"No arrests have been made.

North West Ambulance Service said in a statement: "We were called at 13:18 yesterday to a multi-vehicle RTC on Whitelands Road. We sent two ambulance vehicles and an RRV.

"We treated two patients on scene and took one patient to Tameside General Hospital."
