Driver taken to hospital after crash on A52 near Nottingham and Long Eaton

A crash which caused lengthy delays on the A52 between Nottingham and Derby has caused a driver to be taken to hospital.

Emergency services rushed to the busy road on Monday morning at the westbound carriageway near the M1 junction and Long Eaton.

Police say the crash involved just one car, a Skoda Fabia, which had left the road.

Derbyshire Live reports that the main road westbound was fully closed, before the closure was reduced down to a single lane.

The driver was taken to Queen's Medical Centre for treatment, but no further details have been provided about their condition.

A Derbyshire Police statement said: "We were called to an incident on the A52 just before 7am on Monday. A Skoda Fabia had left the Derby-bound carriageway just before Borrowash.

"One lane was closed while the car was recovered. The driver was taken to the QMC for treatment."

The road reopened fully at around 9.30am.
