Driver taken to hospital after car flips over in Bristol residential area

Dramatic images show a car flipped on its side in a residential area after it reportedly collided with other vehicles.

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink after the vehicle overturned on Gilbert Road in Redfield, but he was later de-arrested while further enquiries are carried out.

One witness claimed the car smashed into two parked vehicles, flipped on its side and then hit a parked van.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: "We’re investigating an incident in which a car was in collision with a number of parked vehicles before overturning in Gilbert Road, Bristol, at just before 8.30pm on Wednesday (September 8).

"The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink and later de-arrested while further enquiries are carried out.

"They were taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that were not believed to be serious or life-threatening.

"Enquiries are ongoing.”
