Driver taken for treatment after crashing car into field outside Crosshouse Hospital

A woman has been taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment today — just yards away from where she crashed the car she was driving.

Emergency services raced to Kilmarnock Road this morning to reports of a one car smash just before 10.30am.

The white Fiat 500 crashed into a field just off the roundabout near the entrance to the major Ayrshire hospital.

The woman was then taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment following the crash, although the extent of any injuries she sustained has not been disclosed.

The motor has seemingly careered from the road and down a steep embankment into the field where it was lying ditched this afternoon.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 10.25am on Tuesday, August 3, police were called to a one car road crash in Kilmarnock Road, Kilmarnock.

"Emergency services attended and and the female driver was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment."
