A 79-year-old man died after suffering a possible medical emergency and crashing his car Tuesday into a utility pole and tree in southwest suburban Joliet.

Kenneth R. Jenco, of Joliet, crashed about 3:30 p.m. after driving off the roadway in the 400 block of South Midland Avenue, Joliet police said in a statement.

Paramedics took him to St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where he died, police said.

An initial investigation shows that Jenco may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, police said. No other vehicles were involved.

Preliminary autopsy results revealed that Jenco died of injuries from the crash, according to the Will County coroner’s office.

The final cause and manner of death are pending further testing, the coroner’s office said.
