A shocked driver says his car window shattered while parked on his driveway as temperatures soared across the country.
Kevin Scott discovered the spider web of broken glass on his rear windscreen when he popped out to get something from the boot of his motor.
The 58-year-old says the "crystallised" window gave way when he touched it, the Daily Record reports.
The year old Renault Kadjar was parked outside Kevin's home in Newton Mearns all day on Saturday before he noticed the problem.
At first he thought it was condensation, until he got close enough to spot the real issue.
Now he faces a £150 excess fee on his insurance to replace the broken glass and a wait for the new screen to arrive.
He said: "My Renault Kadjar was sitting in my off road driveway all day yesterday in the mid-afternoon heat. My wife asked me to get something out of the car boot.
"When I went round the back of it, that's when I noticed it was all kind of crystallised after breaking into thousands of little pieces.
"At first I thought it was condensation which you can get inside the window if you've got a leak but I thought it was a bit weird.
"I touched it and that's when it started giving way and I realised the whole thing was gone. "The temperature gauge was saying 27C when I opened the car door to get into the back.

"By the time my wife took a picture of it a couple of minutes later, it was sitting at 25C. It's just unbelievable.
"I don't know if it's a design flaw with the car that makes the heat build up inside but I've never heard of anything like this happening before."
The Daily Record contacted Renault for comment.
