Driver stopped in Greater Manchester by police was so high he thought he was in Blackpool

A driver stopped in Greater Manchester by police was so drugged-up he thought he was in Blackpool.

The Mercedes driver was spotted driving “erratically” in Gorton and was found to have no insurance.

When he was stopped by officers he tested positive for high levels of cannabis, Greater Manchester Police said.

Tweeting about the incident on Friday, GMP Special Constabulary wrote: “We were in @GMPGorton again last night tending to youth related ASB when these two cars drove by erratically.

Officers tweeted about the incident (@GMPTraffic)

“The BMW driver - no insurance or licence. The Merc driver, no insurance, so & drugged he thought he was still in Blackpool (blew 66 & + for cannabis).”

The incident was one of several reported by traffic police on Friday night.

During one incident, a driver was so desperate to get away that they drove onto a footpath beside a high school.

During another incident, a biker pulled a wheelie directly in front of two marked police cars.

While later on that day, offices stopped a driver speeding driving in Bolton and discovered that he was under the influence of cannabis.

GMP Traffic tweeted details of the individual incidents.

They wrote: “We get asked how do we know which cars to stop ... sometimes they just come and find us....

“The driver of this VW Golf was driving at twice the speed limit on Brownlow Way, with a bald tyre and under the influence of cannabis... all in front of a traffic car... Driver arrested”

The unite later reported in the social media platform: “Renault Captur was pursued by #XT64 in breightmet, where the driver took a variety of routes, including at one point the entire footpath beside the high school!

GMP Traffic gave details of the incident online (@GMPTraffic)

“Car was abandoned on a driveway and 2 of the 3 occupants detained. 1 of which was wanted too! Car seized. Enqs ongoing”

Officers later gave details of another incident in Bolton.

“If you're going to show off on your new motorbike, try not to pull a wheelie in front of 2 marked traffic cars like the rider of this Honda did on Bury Road Bolton,” they wrote.

“TOR issued and warned under section 59 police reform act.”
