Driver stopped by police after officers noticed a dead pig's leg in his back window on the M62

A driver was stopped by police officers after they noticed a dead pig's leg in his back window.

The peculiar discovery was made on the M62 this afternoon by traffic officers from North West Motorway Police.

After spotting what appeared to be a leg blocking the view of the rear window, the officers decided to pull over the vehicle.

Their enquiries revealed that the legs belonged to two dead pigs which had just been bought by the driver.

Officers also found that the driver had no licence and that his window wipers were being worked using string, with the help of the passenger.

After making the unusual discovery, police took to social media to share the news.

"Vehicle drove passed us on the M62 After seeing what appeared to be a leg stuck up in the back window we stopped it to find 2 full dead pigs that had just been purchased," they said.

"Driver had no driving license [sic] and his wipers were being worked by string by the passenger! #cracklingjob "

The post has already attracted a lot of jokes and puns from Twitter users.

One person wrote: "Were they hogging the middle lane?

Another said: "Was he trying to tell your porkies?

Whilst another said: "He made a right pigs ear out of that."
