Driver sparks pursuit outside Lisburn after failing to stop, police say

A driver failed to stop for police last night sparking a pursuit, the PSNI says.

The incident occurred outside Lisburn and had to be 'called off for the safety of others as the driver overtook vehicles at speed'.

In a post on Facebook, Police Lisburn & Castlereagh said: "Tip of the day: If the police signal for you to stop, then stop.

"Unlike the driver last night outside Lisburn who continued on, sparking a pursuit.

"Due to how dangerous the driver was driving, the pursuit was called off for the safety of other road users, after he overtook vehicles at speed on the wrong side of the road and drove into a barrier, damaging the side of the car.

"However we managed to surprise the suspected driver who was walking back to his house not long after.

"He's been arrested for numerous offences, including drink-driving.

"The male will be interviewed this morning."
