A busy Kilmarnock road has been shut after an accident this morning.
Kilmaurs road heading into the village of Kilmaurs from Kilmarnock has been sealed off since just before 9am.
A driver was rushed to hospital, and police remain on the scene, with a number of emergency service vehicles being utilised for the incident.
An eyewitness at the scene said: "The road is closed heading into Kilmaurs, I think it was quite a bad crash.
"There was a heavy police presence and also fire engines and ambulance vehicles.
"The road is shut off to anyone heading in or out of Kilmaurs."
A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 8.50am to a road traffic collision on Kilmaurs Road, Kilmarnock.
"The road is currently shut between John Walker Drive and Johnstone Court in Kilmarnock."
