Driver rushed to hospital after mini-bus smashes into pole in Glasgow

A man was raced to hospital after a mini-bus smashed into a street light in Glasgow on New Year’s Day.

Emergency crews raced to Duke Street in the east end of the city at around 11.50pm on January 1.

Fire and police crews swarmed the scene after they discovered the wreckage from a Ford mini-bus.

Two fire engines were on hand to cut the only occupant from the vehicle while debris was left strewn across the road near the Forge Shopping Centre.

Pictures from the scene show the vehicle’s windshield and the driver’s side completely smashed in as a result of the crash.

The man was taken to hospital but the extent of his injuries remains unclear.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a call about a one vehicle RTC on Duke Street at around 11.50pm on January 1.

“A man was taken to hospital.”
