Driver rushed to hospital after horror A9 lorry crash

A driver was hospitalised after horror smash with a lorry on the A9.

Police raced to the crash which happened around 10.30 am on Tuesday morning at Portormin Road, Dunbeath.

A lorry and car collided on the busy road sparking traffic chaos.

The driver was rushed to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but their condition remains unknown at this time.

Police have tapped off the the road between Helmsdale and Latheron as invesigations continue.

A spokes person for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.30 am this morning, Tuesday,10 November, 2020, police were called to a two vehicle road crash - lorry and car - on the A9 at Portormin Road, Dunbeath.

"The driver of car has been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

"The driver of the lorry was not injured.



"Local diversions are in place."

"Enquiries in to the crash are continuing and the road between Helmsdale and Latheron, remains closed.
