Driver rushed to hospital after being cut from car following horror smash on A9 near the Kelpies

A driver was rushed to hospital after a horror two car smash near The Kelpies in Falkirk.

Yesterday we told how emergency services rushed to the scene and cut a man from his vehicle after the smash on the A9 between Etna Road and Westfield Roundabout.

The accident happened shortly before 5pm on Friday and paramedics and fire crews were called to assist while police closed the road to other motorists.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they sent two appliances to the crash and used hydraulic rescue equipment to free a male traveller.

Police have today confirmed that the driver was taken to hospital for treatment following the crash.

His condition was not life threatening and he has now been released.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a two-car road crash on the A9 between Etna Road and Westfield Roundabout in Falkirk around 4.45pm on Friday, 30 April, 2021.

“Emergency services are in attendance and both lanes are closed from Etna Road to Westfield Roundabout.

This afternoon they added: "The driver of one of the cars was taken to hospital as a precaution and released after treatment."
