A driver reversed a stolen BMW into a police car and two other vehicles during a chase in south Manchester.
Police began following the car in Levenshulme after the driver failed to stop, officers said.
The driver smashed into two other vehicles, according to a post on the local police Facebook page.
They then reversed into the police car before 'driving off at speed', the status on the GMP Fallowfield, Levenshulme and Burnage page said.
None of the officers involved or members of the public were injured and the damage was not significant.
The stolen car was found abandoned a short time later.
Police posted pictures of the vehicle on the local Facebook page.
The full statement, at 3.38pm on Saturday said: "Earlier today local neighbourhood officers attempted to stop this vehicle in Levenshulme.
"The vehicle failed to stop, caused damage to two other vehicles on the road before reversing into the front of the police vehicle and driving off at speed.
"Thankfully officers and members of the public involved were not hurt and damage was not significant.
" The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later.
" Upon inspection it was found to be an outstanding stolen vehicle."
Police are investigating the incident, the post said.
