Driver rams into police car after pretending to pull over to stop after being caught speeding

A driver rammed a stolen VW Golf into a police car after they were caught speeding in Hyde.

The motorist pretended to pull over to stop after they were followed by the police car.

But when the police car parked up behind them on Ashton Road, the driver reversed into the vehicle before speeding off.

Officers chased the VW but the offender managed to drive off after a short chase through a housing estate.

The incident happened at about 1.20am this morning (Sunday).

No one was injured.

Sgt Matt Picton from the GMP Traffic Unit said: "If anyone saw anything or has dash cam footage, please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
