Driver puts fake skeleton in passenger seat in bid to get away with using high occupancy vehicle lane

A driver dressed up a fake skeleton and placed it in his passenger seat in a bid to get away with using a high occupancy vehicle lane.

The man, 62, was caught in Arizona and issued with a penalty ticket after it was determined he was in the car alone.

He had dressed the figure in a camouflage hat in his attempt to fool authorities.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety posted a photo of the skeleton and warned other drivers off attempting similar ploys.

On twitter, they wrote: "Think you can use the HOV lane with Skeletor riding shotgun? You're dead wrong!"

The man was caught out on Thursday morning, they said.

High occupancy vehicle lanes are designed for cars carrying a driver and one or more passengers.
