Driver pulled over for broken brake lights has machete on front seat

This was the astonishing discovery made by officers when they pulled over a motorist for having a defective rear brake light.

The 11-inch machete was on the front seat of the car after it was stopped on Vauxhall Road, Kirkdale, yesterday.

The man was arrested and taken into custody.

In a social media post, Merseyside Police said: "Officers on Vauxhall Road, Kirkdale, yesterday arrested a man after they stopped his car due to it having a defective rear brake light.

"Inside the car officers recovered an 11-inch machete and further checks revealed the man had no insurance and no licence. He was taken to custody."
