Driver pulled over by police for having steamy windows has car seized

A driver who was pulled over by police because his windows were too steamed up has had his car seized.

Officers stopped the driver on Swarkestone Bridge, which goes over the River Trent, yesterday, Thursday, November 26, with steamed up windows as he drove by.

Initially, this was just to talk to him about the importance of clear windows and good visibility in your car, Derbyshire Live reports.

But Melbourne and Mercia Police Safer Neighbourhood Team felt something wasn't right and so carried out some checks on the car and driver.

They discovered the driver, who along with failing to clear his windows, didn't have a UK driving licence or insurance.

The car has now been seized by the police and the driver was sent on his way with a £30 taxi bill and paperwork for the offences he had committed.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: "Always clear your windows, keep an eye on when your driver's licence needs renewing and when your Mot and insurance runs out."

The force shared a picture of the seized vehicle on the back of a pick-up truck as it was being prepared to be taken away.
