A driver has been taken to hospital after a car ploughed through safety railings in Byker , Newcastle.
Northumbria Police were called to the scene on Raby Street close to the Raby Cross Convenience Store at about 5.30pm on Saturday.
A nearby officer on patrol was first to arrive, and local roads were closed in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed a man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment.
