Driver pleads guilty to pursuit charge after police vehicle rammed at Seaford car wash

The police car was rammed at a Seaford car wash in August.

A man has admitted to ramming a police car while trying to escape arrest at a car wash in Adelaide's south.

Simon Eric Lister, 46, pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to escaping a police pursuit "in a culpably negligent manner or recklessly or at a speed or in manner that was dangerous to any person".

The court heard Lister was in a stolen car and driving while disqualified at the time of the incident — which was captured on film.

The court has previously heard police were called to a car wash on The Parade at Seaford on August 5, after reports of a break-in at a coin machine.

Police allege that the patrol found a stolen black Mercedes Benz that had been seen fleeing an Old Noarlunga service station at 20 minutes earlier.

The court heard Mr Lister was driving the car as it accelerated and rammed into the police patrol car at the Seaford car wash, before driving off.

Police have previously said two officers at the scene were not injured, and the patrol car sustained minor damage.

The Mercedes was briefly pursued before police lost sight of it on Eric Road at Old Noarlunga.

Two suspects including Lister were arrested at a Lewiston property a few days later, with police seizing the stolen car.

Lister, of no fixed address, was also charged with two counts of endangering life but those charges were dropped on Monday.

He was remanded in custody to face court again on Wednesday.
