A Victorian man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of a blind man and his guide dog.

Billy-Jo Salter, 23, on Tuesday faced an online hearing at the Victorian County Court, where he pleaded guilty to killing Raymond Meadows at Wedderburn in June 2019.

Salter, a delivery driver based in Tallygaroopna, near Shepparton, also pleaded guilty to the destruction of evidence after he either destroyed or hid a dash-cam memory card.

He was granted bail to reappear before the County Court for a plea hearing on November 11.

Mr Meadows, 63, was hit while taking his daily walk to the gym along the Calder Highway with his guide dog about 6.40am.

He had been wearing a high-visibility vest with flashing lights and had done the walk for the past 15 years.

Both Mr Meadows and his dog Gerry - whom he had been paired with for just two months - died at the scene.

His widow Valma said Mr Meadows was a safety conscious man and a caring person.
