The driver of a ute has been charged with manslaughter, grievous bodily harm and fail to remain at scene after the death of a teenage boy in Waterford West, south of Brisbane, last night.

Police allege a black Toyota Hilux was being driven dangerously by a 21-year-old Thornlands man along Bourke Street when it hit a white dirt bike being ridden by two boys.

The 17-year-old rider of the motorbike died at the scene from his injuries, and his 19-year-old pillion passenger suffered a serious leg injury.

The passenger was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, where he remains.

Investigators will also allege the driver of the ute fled the scene without rendering assistance to the teenagers.

Polair tracked the Hilux to Cairns Street, Loganholme, where the driver was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged overnight and denied bail. He will appear in Brisbane Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Police have called for witnesses, especially those with dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.
