A driver miraculously escaped uninjured after his car landed in a ditch when he blacked out at the wheel on the M61.
Photos from the scene showed the car on its side after it landed in bush off the side of the motorway this afternoon.
North West Motorway Police tweeted about the incident with a picture of the vehicle, on Sunday evening.
They said police and ambulance raced down to the scene.
The driver was checked over after blacking out but suffered no injuries, they tweeted.
They said: "The driver of this vehicle left the carriageway on the M61 having suffered a medical episode.
"Ambulance and police quickly attended the scene and gave support to the driver.
"Checked over by paramedics.
"Driver had blacked out.
"Thankfully no injuries to the driver or anyone else."
