Driver of stolen Astra leaves smashed up cars in middle of road after fleeing crash

The driver of a stolen car fled from the scene of a crash, leaving the smashed up vehicles in the middle of the road in south Manchester.

Police said the offender would probably be suffering from 'a sore head judging by the windscreen' following the crash in Levenshulme.

The driver of the other vehicle escaped uninjured.

Officers posted pictures from the scene of the smash, on Slade Lane near the junction with Old Hall Lane, showing two badly damaged cars.

The bonnet of one car was hanging on by a thread, while debris from the vehicle was scattered across the road.

The crash happened this morning (Tuesday).

In a Facebook post, GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme, and Burnage said: "Stolen vehicle Silver Astra involved in a RTC this morning on Slade Lane near Old Hall Lane.

"Driver made off, will probably have a sore head judging by the windscreen.

"Also airbags deployed. Recovered for forensics.

"The driver of the other vehicle luckily escaped injury."
